MANIFESTATION „TESLA@FRIENDS“ MARKS THE DAY OF NIKOLA TESLA AND 159 ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF NIKOLA TESLA
The association Nikola Tesla –genious for the future, with the three day manifestation Tesla@friend held between 9-11 of July marked the Day of Nikola Tesla, day of Science,Technology and Innovation Day in Croatia as well as the 159th anniversary of birth of genious from the village of Smiljani. The manifestation was held under the auspices of Mr Josip Leko, the President of croatian assembly, Ministry of science, education and sport of the City of Zagreb, Embassy of the Check republic in Croatia, Croatian commission for UNESCO, Zagreb tourist board and Croatian Chamber of commerce. The comemmoration started on 9th f July with the traditional celebration and yearly award ceremony of Nikola Tesla – Genious for the future at hotel Esplanade.The eminent experts from the political, scientific and social life of Croatia were present.There were two panel discussions held within the programme. Prof. Dr. Sc. Mladen Martinis, prof. dr. Sc. Slobodan Mizdrak and prof. dr. Sc. Stanko Popović spoke about Tesla's achievements in medicine and while Sara Cepić, Ivan Kožar and two elementary school scolars Nikolina Špilek and Grgur Brenčić spoke of him as their inspiration.
ANNUAL AWARD OF NIKOLA TELSA – GENIUS FOR THE FUTURE
Within the programme, held at hotel Esplanade, Nikola Tesla annual awards were granted in three categries. Sara Cepić, a high-school student from Sesvete, received also this year the award in Physics and General Knowledge Quiz about Tesla. In the category of Creative and Innovative Product inspired by Tesla's inventions, the young inovator Ivan Kožar from Ivanić Grad got the award for the wireles phone charger. In the category of Tesla's Extended Activities was awarded young innovator Tin Biršić from Ivanić Grad for project Cloud Security System.
LAYING FLOWERS ON MONUMENT OF NIKOLA TESLA IN ZAGREB
Laying flowers on monument of Nikola Tesla in Zagreb followed on the 10th of July. Mr.Milan Bandić, Mayor of the City of Zagreb, Prof. dr. Sc. Miroslav Plohl from the Institute Rušer Bošković and Ms Dragica Mihajlović, President of the Nikola Tesla Association-Genius for the Future, laid flowers on the monument of Nikola Tesla in Zagreb.
THE CONFERENCE TESLA IN ZAGREB
The Conference Tesla in Zagreb opened for the 6th year in a row at the Croatian Chamber of Commerce within the celebration of Tesla's birthday under the topic: Tesla in medicine. The eminent experts, doc. dr. sc. Gordana Žauhar, prof.dr.sc. Mladen Martinis, prof. dr. sc.Slobodan Mizdrak and Brigita Niegelhell Perovec, made a speech on that subjet.
LECTURE AT NIKOLA TESLA'S DEMONSTRATION ROOM
On Saturday, 11th of July, Mr. Renato Filipin, Senior Curator, gave a lecture with live demonstration at the Technical Museum Nikola Tesla.
INITIATIVE FOR RENAMING OF TECHNICAL MUSEUM
The initiative was given by the Association of Nikola Tesla-Genius for the future .The city assembly of the city of Zagreb brought decision about the renaming at the beginning of June of 2015.
CYCLUS OF THE LECTURES: „HOW TO DEVELOP THE CREATIVITY AND INOVATION OF EACH INDIVIDUAL“
In cooperation with the Croatian Association of Innovators and Croatian Association of Technical Culture, the Association of Nikola Tesla-Genius for the future continued with the organization of lectures directed to the development of creativity and inovation with kids and adults. During the year several lectures were held with different subjets, from the importance of proper nutrition and physical training for better intelectual work until inspired lectures and workshops with the subject of introducting of innovative models of education.
COOPERATION BETWEEN UNT AND GYMNASIUM ON PROMOTION
It is known that Nikola Tesla spent part of his life in Karlovac, and the important part of his education gained in today’s Gymnasium of Karlovac where they are proud of it and where they promote his work. The Association of Nikola Tesla-Genius for the future recognised the ideas of this Karlovac Gymnasium and gave the support to their work. Beginning of this month was arranged the cooperation between the Association and the Gymnasium. The agreement about cooperation , related to the projects of the Association, was signed with Mr Damir Mandič, the Principle of the school.The Association will give support to the school in activities where they can promote their work, also how to prepare the curiculum with the content and subjects related to the work of Nikola Tesla.
THE QUIZ IN PHYSICS AND GENERAL KNOWLEDGE ABOUT NIKOLA TESLA
Already the 6th year in a row, on March 10, 2015 the first testing of about 80 primary and secondary school pupils and university students from Croatia opened the Quiz in physics and general knowledge about Nikola Tesla at the Faculty of Textile Technology in Zagreb.
Mr Toni Milun, mathematician, Ms Sandra Bischof, Dean of the Faculty of Textile Technology, Mr Don Hudspet, Dean at the RIT Croatia, Mr Don Markušić, Vice-President of Transparency International and Mr Marko Bubaš, President of the Union of Croatian Innovators approached pupils and students and spoke about the importance of creativity and innovative spirit in education and society.
Mr Velimir Abramović from Belgrade approached them as well. The musicians Mr Milko Pravdić, professor at Zagreb Music Academy and Mr Rude Mimica, member of Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra performed Bach's Two Part Invention during the opening ceremony.
COOPERATION WITH THE GRAPHIC SCHOOL FROM ZAGREB
The Graphic School from Zagreb participated in the Nikola Tesla Days 2015 program in the Technical Museum in Zagreb. They organized the workshop during which Nikola Tesla theme posters were made under the guidance of their mentor Ms Ljiljana Stazić, a high school teacher. The representatives of the Nikola Tesla Association – Genius for the Future selected the best work, the poster named „Tesla“, made by Leon Matija Mršić, the fourth grade student educated to be a graphic editor – designer, who got the medal with Nikola Tesla figure.
The students of the Graphic School educated to be media technicians took part in the panel discussion The Perception of the Nikola Tesla Phenomenon“. They were also present at the opening of the Competitions for the Nikola Tesla – Genius for the Future annual award that was held on 29 January 2015. under the guidance of their mentors, high school teachers Mr Sven Pavlinić and Ms Marijana Brdar as well as Mr Dubravko Deželić, Head of the School. They shot the whole program in order to prepare the reportage showing their perception of Nikola Tesla and the event dedicated to Tesla.
THE PANEL DISUSSION AND OPENING OF COMPETITION FOR THE ANNUAL AWARD OF NIKOLA TESLA – GENIUS FOR THE FUTURE
Within the Days of Nikola Telsa, the Nikola Tesla Association – Genius for the Future opened on January 29th the Competition for the „Nikola Tesla – Genius for the Future“ Annual Award.The Competition was opened by Mrs Sandra Švaljek, Deputy Mayor of the City of Zagreb, now acting as Zagreb Mayor.
The program included the panel discussion „The Perception of Nikola Tesla Phenomenom“
The speakers were prof. Mladen Martinis, D.Sc., prof. Karolj Skala,D.Sc. of the Ruđer Bošković Institute in Zagreb, prof. Dubravko Horvat, D.Sc. professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb, Mr Ivan Šimatović, D.Sc., independent researcher, Ms Zorica Civrić, Senior Curator of the Museum of Science and Technology in Belgrade, previously Curator of the Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade. Prof. Božo Skoko, D.Sc., the well-known communications expert, was the moderator of the panel discussion.
The conclusion was that the work of Nikola Tesla is still not sufficiently known to the public, especially to children and young people.
In order to gain a better insight into the life and work of Nikola Tesla, the speakers suggested building a Tesla park following the model of the Kopernik centre in Poland, the organization of international events related to Nikola Tesla, as well as new literary works about Tesla's life and work.
THE INTERNATIONAL INITIATIVE TO FOUND THE NIKOLA TESLA INSTITUTE AND DIGITIZATION OF TESLA'S ARCHIVE
The Nikola Tesla Association – Genius for the Future arranged the meeting of Mr. Velimir Abramović from Belgrade, Mr. Roman Tolić from Vienna, Mr. Miran Perhavac from Maribor, Mr. Toni Milun, known by his activities related to the popularization of science, eminent Croatian scientists and other guests. At the meeting in the offices of the Asociation, they discussed the international initiative to found the Nikola Tesla Institute which would study the unpatented inventions of Nikola Tesla as well as the whole material in the Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade.
Therefore they suggested digitization in order to make the material available to all interested scientists and research workers.
