Tesla&friends 2011 - The Nikola Tesla association | Genius for the future

Tesla in Zagreb is the name of the first international exhibition dedicated to Nikola Tesla which began this year's three day celebration of Tesla's birthday organised by the Nikola Tesla – Genius for the Future Association.

The exhibition, Tesla in Zagreb was open from 8th -10th July at Czech House and organised in conjunction with the Czech Association in Zagreb under the patronage of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Zagreb. In addition to Tesla's inventions, the exhibition also included: Innovations from candidates nominated for the annual awards; A book collection: „ Nikola Tesla-Genius for the Future „; Launch of a new story book „Master of Light –Nikola Tesla“ and its author; Presentation of the book „Abafi“ and its author–a book which made Tesla, Tesla; Author of 20 Tesla books, Mr. Aleksandar Milinković from Belgrade; as well as art dedicated to Nikola Tesla. Participants in the exhibition came from several different countries.

The exhibition was officially opened by the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Croatia, Mr. Don Markušić in the presence of the Vice President of the City of Zagreb Assembly, Ms. Tatjana Holjevac, representatives of the City of Zagreb, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the Czech Republic, the President of the Czech Association, representatives of Tesla Bank in Croatia, business people, innovators, diplomats, university professors and guests from Croatia and abroad.

On the actual anniversary of Tesla's birthday on 10th July, representatives from the City of Zagreb, the Nikola Tesla – Genius for the Future Association and special guests marked the 155th anniversary of Tesla's birth as part of the „Tesla & Friends“ manifestation during which, like last year, winners were awarded annual Nikola Tesla – Genius for the Future Awards. The manifestation was officially opened by the Vice President of the City of Zagreb Assembly. On the second evening of Tesla & Friends this year, a roundtable was also held on the topic „Tesla in Art“. The participants in the roundtable were: dr.sc. Božo Skoko; Aleksandar Milinković journalist and publicist from Belgrade; Author of 20 works on Nikola Tesla, Mario Kovač from Zagreb; Director, Timotej Kritovac, architect, and part of the project team for the Nikola Tesla Memorial Centre in Smiljan.

Also presented at the events were innovations such as the story book Nikola Tesla Master of Light and a new dessert dedicated in Tesla’s honour and the 155th anniversary of the birth and memory of the great works of this world genius which was a gift by the Regent Hotel Esplanade. The Regent Hotel Esplanade in Zagreb shall now also be known in the world by this confectionary, unique in the world by being dedicated to a scientist and called „Tesla’s Lightning by Esplanade“.

The 155th anniversary of Tesla’s birth was formally celebrated with a cultural program and in the presence of VIP guests including Minister Fuks, representatives of the City of Zagreb, diplomats, scientists, physicists, innovators, artists and entrepreneurs from Croatia and abroad and was a celebration that shall long be remembered.
